Summer is right around the corner and with the rising temperatures, golfers are looking for ways to cool off on the course. No matter what the summer weather brings, it’s important to be prepared. Here are a few tips to help you stay comfortable and focused on your game this summer.

Stay Hydrated

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s important to make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids during the summer months. Golf is a physically demanding sport and being properly hydrated will help your body perform at its best. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, muscle cramps and even heat stroke, so make sure to drink up before, during, and after your round. It’s common for people to drink alcohol while golfing, but alcohol actually dehydrates your body and can make the heat even more unbearable.

Dress For The Heat

Wearing the right clothing is important for staying cool on the golf course. Loose, breathable and light-colored fabrics are ideal for summer days. Avoid wearing dark colors as they absorb heat and can make you feel even hotter. A hat or visor is also a good idea to keep the sun out of your eyes and off your face.

Early Tee Time

If possible, tee off early in the morning when temperatures are cooler. The heat of the day can make it more difficult to focus and make good shots. Playing earlier will also help you avoid large crowds on the course.

What To Bring

Don’t forget to use sunscreen! It’s important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays, even if it’s cloudy outside. Apply sunscreen before heading to the golf course and reapply as needed throughout the day. Extra gear like umbrellas, fans, and cool towels will also help you make it through a hot summer round of golf.
